arrowDuvall's departure is Gilmore's gain

The swift downfall of Orange County Republican Mike Duvall has an upside for a Valley Republican.

Three weeks after Duvall resigned over a sex scandal, his Assembly staff today is moving into the smallest office in the Capitol. That means the current occupant of the "doghouse," Hanford's Danny Gilmore, gets to move to bigger digs. He'll have his own office, two staff offices and a reception area, compared with the two-room shoebox he spent this year in.

"I'm really elated for my staff, that's a pretty cramped quarters," Gilmore said.
