Clovis kept its No. 1 ranking in Fresno County home values last month, according to figures released by a real estate tracking company.

The median price of $246,000 was a 7.2% decline from a year ago - and well above second place Reedley, which was at $175,000, according to DataQuick Information Systems. The values in Reedley were down 26.6% from a year ago.

Other values in August were: Fresno, $150,000, down 25%; Sanger, $125,000, a decline of 36.2%; Kerman, $170,000, a drop of 12%; and Selma, $140,000, a fall of 14.9%.

Values in Tulare County also fell, DataQuick reported.:
Tulare was at $142,500, down 18.6% from a year earlier; Visalia was $140,000, a fall of 29.4%; and the median value in Porterville was $140,000, a 20% drop.

DataQuick notes that median values can fluctuate according to the size and characteristics of homes sold month to month, especially in smaller communities where fewer houses are sold.
