Smittcamp kin helps Radanovich; Smittcamp still wants Radanovich out
On August 13, Mariposa Republican George Radanovich is holding a lunch fundraiser at Pardini's Restaurant in north Fresno.
Joining him is Ed Goeas, president and CEO of The Tarrance Group, a Virginia-based polling and strategic research firm with strong Republican roots.
Its current roster includes 11 U.S. Senators, three Governors, and more than 30 members of Congress. One of those clients is Radanovich.
Oh yeah, Goeas also happens to be the son-in-law of Fresno business owner and influential Republican Bob Smittcamp, a guy who wants Radanovich out of office.
When asked about it, Smittcamp chuckled.
"Ed has been Radanovich's pollster for several years," Smittcamp said. "I just happen to be on the opposite side of the fence."
He added: "That provides good conversation across the dinner table when we happen to get together."
Despite the family ties, Smittcamp said he still wants to recruit a viable challenger who can take out Radanovich. "I'm trying," Smittcamp said.
As for Goeas, he compares it to two people living together who root for different football teams.
"We talk about it, we laugh about it," Smittcamp said.
