I'll bet there's a bunch of young women excited to hear that Forever 21 has bid on several Valley Gottschalks locations. See today's story.

Our area has one Forever 21 store in Fashion Fair mall. The clothing retailer's stores are much smaller than the average Gottschalks, but the move to a bigger location is part of a new strategy that the company started after buying 15 former Mervyns.

If the bid is accepted, Forever 21 wants to bring expanded versions of its stores to Fashion Fair, River Park, Hanford Mall and Visalia Mall.

There's probably a market for it. The Fashion Fair store always seems busy. Just Tuesday evening I was in there and left because there was a line for the dressing room -- at 6 p.m.! During the day after Thanksgiving shopping madness, the store had a line longer than the one outside Macy's at 5 a.m. (see pic at left).
