arrowToilet paper is not recession-proof

tp.jpg

A rather disturbing e-mail landed in my inbox this morning: Toilet paper sales are slipping.

And it's not just because people are buying cheaper brands. They are buying fewer large packs and living off what's already in their closets. I'm not quite sure how that works, because doesn't the er, need for the product stay the same?

Before we go any further down that messy road, let me turn your attention to some products that really are recession proof:

Movies
Spending on kids
Alcohol
Spending on pets

How about you? Is there something you refuse to give up in this recession?

Hah! I just read a blog entry on why you *shouldn't* cut back on toilet paper, especially businesses.

I made a vow, as soon as I left my father's house, to never be so poor as to have to buy Scott toilet paper again. I will sacrifice anything else except toilet paper.

That's hilarious, thanks for the read. You can bet I'm not cutting back.

That's scary! Then, considering the state of the economy and the rise in food prices, perhaps people are eating less hence decreasing trips to the tiolet. If this were the case, then it's not necessarily a bad thing....we are a society of overweight people. I just hope restaurants and other public places aren't providing any less TP than is needed!

This is bad news. Let's hope we see an increase in hand soap sales... ew.

In times like this, frugal use of our holdings is imperative. Why throw away the Bee after reading it - using it for other needs is simply the best thing to do. Maybe this is the "Green" thing to do and, just maybe, this may explain the lesser purchase of TP. Reading and then wiping seems to be quite a service to our Country.

This is a terrible fact to face if even the simplest things to maintain hygiene will be affected by the recession.
