arrowYet another fireplace-burning glitch

This wood-burning ban thing is getting a little crazy.

A reader called me yesterday and pointed out something I had not considered.

On Wednesday morning, our weather page said it was OK to burn, which was true. But by Wednesday afternoon, the local air district had banned wood burning for Thursday.

"Don't those bans start at midnight?" the caller asked.

Ouch. Yes, I think they do.

So if you started your fire Wednesday evening and left it burning past midnight, you could be fined.

"How am I supposed to use my wood-burning stove to heat my house?" the caller asked.

I'm on it. I'll start asking questions today.
