arrowFast Food and value deals

Have you noticed all the deals by fast-food chains lately?

From Subway and Quizno's launching $5 specials to Taco Bell's 79-89-99 special to all the others, it is clear that families are watching their pennies and tightening belts.

Our own Joan Obra wrote about how restaurant customers are opting for less-expensive entrees. The Orange County Register also got in on the act.

Personally, these higher prices are becoming a drag. Gas tops $4 per gallon, groceries cost more and

my weekly budget runs a deficit more frequently. That means we have to cut back somewhere, which could lead to a spirited debate among my three family members. I hate yard work and want to keep the gardener. My wife lives for cable, so that could be off limits.

Ouch!
