Catalano’s Market officially became “The Market” Wednesday.

Joe Pressutti Sr., part owner of Campagnia and Pangea restaurants bought the store, at Herndon and West avenues in Fresno, from the Catalano family.

New and expanded additions to the store include: a fish market, an in-store florist, gift baskets, catering, a focus on locally grown food and an expanded deli and selection of artisan breads and specialty cheeses.
All 70 employees will remain on staff.

The store’s new general manager and chief operating officer is Bruce Christensen, a fourth-generation grocer whose family founded Christensen’s Markets in 1947 and the former Food World store in Fig Garden Village.
