arrowDuncan's bid for Fresno mayor draws Republican support

Jerry Duncan drew endorsements for his Fresno mayoral campaign from a key Republican lawmaker and a group of local Republicans.

Duncan said that state Sen. David Cogdill and the Fresno County Republican Party have given him their support. Assemblyman Mike Villines had already endorsed Duncan, giving him the backing of two of the state’s top Republican lawmakers. The mayor's office is a non-partisan post.

Duncan, who learned earlier Wednesday that he had not been endorsed by local business leaders, said he was grateful for the support of those who have endorsed him.

“To me, these (endorsements) matter more,” Duncan said. “They reflect the values of this community.”
