A devil of a trail
We left Rosalie Lake early this morning and walked about 7 miles through the Devil's Postpile area.
I understand the Postpile is a jaw-dropping formation of volcanic rock, but none of that was visible from the trail. We did see a lot of burned trees and dust.
I killed 40 mosquitoes before lunchtime. It hasn't been purgatory, but I think we should get some credit for time served.
This post was filed from a payphone at Red's Meadow. Christina and Eric plan to push on a bit this afternoon before making camp.

How all of you have dealt with the bugs, dirt, lack of t.v, and all the things we have come to know and love, I cannot understand! Hats off to all of you! I have never been camping I hear from others that it is fun. I personally do not think that I could handle it, I don't do bugs, dirt, and not sleeping on a matress. I am proud of you guys!

Bummer.
Here's praying that the little buggers leave you alone (or that you stumble across a bottle of effective bug spray).
Blessings...

Cutter's is your friend. It cuts down on the death of fish food.
Hope you are enjoying your nature trip. I'll see you at All Saints at the end of the month.

I just finished hiking the JMT about a week ago, the mosquitoes are terrible beneath 10,000 feet. I do recommend everyone hiking through to check out Devils Postpile as well as Rainbow falls, also make sure you get a piece of pie at the Red's Meadows...very tasty
