It's all the local news and stuff from the blogosphere that you need to Fres-Know.

TASTES LIKE FRESNO:
The food-minded folks over at Taste Fresno unveiled a fancy new site yesterday, where they'll gladly take your local restaurant reviews and favorite recipes -- like bacon-covered cinnamon rolls. We apologize in advance for making you hungry. [Taste Fresno]

NAME THAT FRESNO LANDMARK: Another Fresno-centric site to add to your bookmarks is Picture Fresno. It's quite fun -- they show you a small portion of a photo from a recognizable Fresno landmark and you have to guess what it is. [Picture Fresno]

THE FUSION REMAINS: We thought Fresno Fusion has disappeared, but from the looks of things the Downtown-centric site is still hanging on and has something new in the works. We'll be watching. [Fresno Fusion]

It's all the local news and stuff from the blogosphere that you need to Fres-Know to become a better Fres-Knan.

BE ACTIVE: Still pissed about the passing of Prop 8? A Restoring Equality in 2010 kickoff and informational meeting will take place tonight at 6:30 p.m. at California State University, Fresno. [Queer Fresno]

BE HEARD: The third community meeting for the Tower District Streetscape Master Plan project will be held at 11 a.m. this Saturday at Landmark. Be there or be square. Not circle. As in: proposed traffic circles on Olive Ave. [Arc Hop]

BE CREATIVE: SwedeFest 4 is on the horizon. Better pick out your source movie before all the good ones are taken (read: "Jennifer's Body"). [The Dumb]

BE CHARITABLE: Are you a fan of video games? How about of keeping children alive and healthy? You're just the person the Married Gamers are looking for to help them raise money for a cure for pediatric cancer. [The Married Gamers]

BE NEIGHBORLY: A meeting of the Building Healthy Neighborhoods Task Force will be held Friday from 8:30-10:30 a.m. at the Fresno Center for New Americans. [Green Fresno]

BE ACCOUNTABLE: Is cleaning up graffiti suitable punishment for a parking ticket? Mike Scott wants to know. More importantly, Mike Scott is back from vacation! [CBS47]

BE INVOLVED: Fresno's premier music event, the recently renamed re:FUSE Fest, is seeking volunteers. The festival is October 2-3 (next weekend), so sign up now. [FUSE Fest]

MTD CEK FAX BUS RULES2.JPG

THE FAX OF LIFE: Head's up, bus riders -- under a new state law affecting only us and Sac-Town, you can get banned from riding the bus for a whole year if you "throw a punch, hit too aggressively on someone for a date, or drop a bunch of 'F-bombs.' " So basically, nothing that happens in the Beehive comments section is allowed. [The Bee]

HELP US, WILLIE NELSON, YOU'RE OUR ONLY HOPE: It's probably a good idea to get some big names besides Paul Rodriguez behind all the issues affecting farmers in the Central Valley, right? The people trying to bring Farm Aid to Fresno agree. [Fresno Famous]

CATCHING HIM UP: The Fresnan pitches a Welcome-to-Fresno guide to catcher Buster Posey, the SF Giants' stud prospect who has landed with The Griz. [The Fresnan]

ROUND INFINITY: The MMA-in-the-park issue gets racy, as a Fresno State prof enters the fray with a perspective suggesting segregation. This public fight is starting to look worse than anything that happens in a cage. [The Bee]

It's all the local news and stuff from the blogosphere that you need to Fres-Know. It's been a while, so we're giving you a big one. Don't dare say it.

KMPHATE? The top item on the GLAAD blog is about how KMPH aired a paid, anti-gay infomercial on Sunday. We have to ask: WWKD -- what would Kopi do? [GLAAD Blog]

HIGH JINX: If an airplane has trouble, but only bloggers care ... is it news? Mike Scott thinks so and is all over it. [CBS 47]

CAR DASHING: Two girls paid top dollar to meet Kim Kardashian at The Edge on Friday night. After hours of waiting, that didn't happen, so they dashed outside, intercepted Kim as she left, got invited into her limo, then sent the pics to a vacation blog. [On Location Vacations]

GET OFF MY LAWN! Do you hate people? Wish they'd leave you alone? (I'm thinking of one blogger in particular) Or do you just wish those pesky solicitors would stop knocking at your door? Either way, check out this hilarious sign. [On Edge 559]

It's all the local news and stuff from the blogosphere that you need to Fres-Know.

THE TOWER IS A PLACE FOR TOURISTS: The Tower District (and Fresno) got a two-page spread in the current Sunset Magazine. They shouted the Tower out as a cool daytrip and called it a "hip indie 'hood brimming with vintage flavor." And no where did it say "scary," so take that, rest of the city. [The Fresnan]

SUCK IT, LONG BEACH: Fresno is now officially the fifth biggest city in the state, topping Long Beach. Now we need a beach and a Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles. [Fresno Bee]

AIN'T FRESNO GREAT? If we may continue drooling over our city, we'll point you toward a new survey from the Fresno City & County Convention & Visitors Bureau asking people "What's so special about the Fresno area?" You should fill it out. [Fresno Famous]

PODCAST PIÑATA: The View Looks Good From Here, Fresno podcast turned 1 recently. What do you get a podcast for its birthday? We suggest a piñata. We like alliteration. I'm sure they'd be happy if you just listened though. [TVLGFHF]

IT AIN'T ALL RAINBOWS: A recent trainwreck of a local show has Conlan at FMB ranting about Fresno's music scene. It's a good read. [FresnoMagBlog]

It's all the local news and stuff from the blogosphere that you need to Fres-Know.

FAR OUT, FRESNO: We already feed the world, now our area might be powering it too. PG & E made a deal to buy energy from outer space and beam it down to Fresno. We predict Fresno will now hella be ahead of the curve on alien-human relations because of this. [MSNBC]

IN YOUR FACE: Be proud, teabaggers. Fresno was featured on The Huffington Post's blog post about 10 Most Offensive Tea Party Signs. We didn't make the list, but we got our photo gallery. [The Huffington Post] (UPDATE: A tweaked this a bit after a reader brought to my attention that we didn't actually make the Top 10)

TWITTER WAR! Taking a cue from the Ashton Kutcher/Larry King battle, KMPH has thrown down the Twitter challenge to other local stations. I heard it was stated on the air that they didn't want it with @mikeoz or @fresnobeehive. Good idea. [KMPH Twitter]

IF YOU BUILD IT ...: ArcHop is blowin' up. It launched its own official Web site ... and then used it to announce there's gonna be an ArcHop park. Woah! I guess that trumps our plans to have an actual Beehive somewhere in Fresno. Sigh. [ArcHop]

R.I.P? FresnoFusion.com -- once the "living blueprint of downtown" -- appears to have gone the way of Gottschalks. Does this mean downtown is dead? [the site formerly known as Fresno Fusion]

LOSE ONE, GAIN ONE: Fresno Magazine has jumped aboard the blog train with Fresno Mag Blog. Despite the sorta-awkward name and Fresno's Mag sorta-lame track record, someone over there was smart enough to grab Conlan from This is Conlan to steer the ship. Today he asks, "What's your favorite thing about Fresno?" [Fresno Mag Blog]

MID-SIZED MOJO: Famous goes to the Crest Theatre for some metal and leaves optimistic. Can the Crest be the mid-sized venue we need? [Fresno Famous]

BETTER WITH BACON: Visalia sh*t-talker Oliver Wrist gives us a cooking demo -- bacon/cheddar waffle with eggs over easy. This proves, once again, that every blog is better with bacon. [Nickel Plated Bama]

It's all the local news and stuff from the blogosphere that you need to Fres-Know (shout-out to our new blog roll, which makes this post that much more fun to write).

OH SNAP! Mike Scott wonders if The Fresno Bee is worth the price. Funny, I've been wondering the same thing about local TV news for years. [CBS47]

THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID: Where have all the swallows gone? (Seriously, start reading Mr. Scott's blog immediately, and regularly.) [CBS47]

NOTHING TO FEAR BUT... Famous Whitewater combats Fresno's KMJ listeners' fear of downtown with a collection of pro-downtown media offerings. [Fresno Famous]

IT'S OK TO BE JEALOUS: What's it like to play catch with members of the Fresno State football team? Blogger DC3 figured you'd want to know, so he videotaped it. [The Bulldog Bounce]

PRETTY AS A: The Bee photo blog is getting gorgeous now that the landscape is starting to change with the weather. Photo by Mark Crosse. [Bee There]

SERVE AND PROTECT: Think Fresno cops need a timeout? At least you're not a 15-year old girl living
in Seattle. [estewartartist]

PROP H8TE: Still unhappy with the passing of Prop 8? Gather with others for a vigil program, recommitment ceremony, speakers and a moment of silence tomorrow at the Fresno County Clerk's office. [Queer Fresno]

OLD-TIMEY PORN: Erotic drawings were found -- and then stolen -- during renovation of downtown's Hotel Virginia. Police are looking for the one person in Fresno who has never heard of the Internet. [Bee Business Blog]

WELCOME TO THE 'NETS: Friend-to-the-Beehive Marietta Dalpez has launched a new blog on the CBS47 site titled "Amuse-Bouche with Marietta." Amuse-Bouche in French translates to "mouth amuser." Do what you will with that information. [Amuse-Bouche with Marietta]

WELL, MAYBE SOME: Are all artists simply self-promoting, hipster d-bags? Art Hop is this week, so you can find out for yourself. [The Collegian]

CREATIVE HATING: You know you're someone special when people take the time to draw pictures illustrating how much they hate you (me = jealous). [This is Conlan]

SMOOTH CRIMINALS: Busted by your moms? Unfortunate. Busted while hot-boxing your car on a public street? At least you won't care for awhile. [Fresno Bee, Fresno Bee]

News you should know, echoes from the blogosphere and so on:

EYE OF THE TIGER: Got what it takes to be on "Survivor?" A casting call is happening at 5 p.m. today at Sierra Vista Mall. [CBS47]

MMMM, CARNE ASADA: TasteFresno does what every Fresnan should do and goes to Guadalajara for the town's best tacos. [TasteFresno]

BLOWING UP: Welcome Fresno's first blow-up doll blogger. As you might expect, she's got a foul mouth on her. [Dumb Drum]

HIND PARTS? Is it just me or does this snow photo look like someone's butt? [Bee There]

FACE-OFF: Facebakersfield tells the story of a 72-year-old Fresno woman who found a really old baseball card and put it up for auction, with speculation that spoils of riches will come her way. Dang, why haven't we told that story? Great original reporting, guys. [facebakersfield]

COMMENTER APPRECIATION: Conlan shows love to his 250th commenter by writing a song. Don't start gettin' any ideas, y'all. [This is Conlan]

NO-NO-NOTORIOUS: Fresno emcee Fashawn keeps getting more shine -- this time an appearance on a Notorious B.I.G. tribute mixtape put out by famous DJs Mick Boogie and Terry Urban. In fact, Young Fash is the one of the newer artists to appear among the likes of Jay-Z, The Clipse and Kanye West. Oh, and it's a free download. [Blog Me Down]

FANCY: Creative Fresno has launched a new Web site. It's got all that social networking stuff the kids like so much these days. Sigh. One more log-in to remember. [Creative Fresno]

MORE FANCY Speaking of social networking, go be a fan of The Beehive on Facebook. Please and thank you. [Facebook]
