<title>Birkenau</title>

When I suggested that we spend Thanksgiving in central Europe, my wife and two kids thought nothing strange about the idea. Places like Hawaii have never held any interest for us. We believe that we have the ability to educate ourselves and children through direct interaction with the places and cultures we visit. So while everyone else was enjoying the relatively mild November temperatures of Fresno, we were shivering through snow in the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia and Hungary.<br><b>BILL HAINES /</b>THE FRESNO BEE]]>&lt;/p&gt;</description>
