Chasing Jackson Pollock

I have long admired the frenetic “Drip Period” art of Jackson Pollock,  whose work captivated the American art world during the late 40s and early 50s. He and his art became enormously famous overnight after a LIFE magazine interview in 1949.

More than half a century later Pollock continues to influence and inspire. TV commercials, print advertising and younger artists employ some of his methods.

Somehow I must be channeling his artistic soul because I see the influence in just about all things. So much so that I have begun to document the ‘sightings’ with my Smartphone.  Here are some examples. The titles are self explanatory.

CAPTION THIS: Guardian Angels

I would like to express gratitude to the ‘Guardian Angel’ who discovered my motorcycle keys left in the ignition. They turned them in and then the keys were  returned to me. It would have been a long walk home without them.

So, have you ever been blessed by the honesty and goodness of someone? A guardian angel perhaps? Share your story if you have one.

CAPTION THIS: It’s Bike Month

Two wheels tomorrow and the next day and the next and so on for the entire month. At least that is part of my plan to celebrate BIKE MONTH. This Wednesday (May 8)  I will be taking part in the Mall to Mall ride — from Manchester Center to the Fulton Mall in downtown Fresno.  The event is being put on by the good folks at  who are inviting riders to meet at Manchester for a start time of 7:45am.  Check out the iBikeFresno website for more details.
