I haven’t fished since I was about 5 years old in my dad’s canoe, but even I said “Wow, that’s a big fish” when I saw this photo. It’s a 20-pound striped bass caught by Roger George, the Bee’s fishing columnist, in the San Luis Reservoir.
One of the great ironies of being a journalist here is that despite all your hard work on fantastic stories, the obituaries and the fishing report are probably almost always going to rank higher in number of page views on the website. This one is worth it. The story about how he revealed the fish to a friend in the report is pretty entertaining too. Cheers to you, Roger.
