Win tickets to ‘The Nutcracker’

UPDATE 12/18: And our winner is Danielle Shapazian. Congrats!

ORIGINAL ENTRY: One of the great things about “The Nutcracker” is the fact that it’s a wonderful holiday tradition, especially when you share it with a wide-eyed child. One of the not-so-great things is that a big, live performance like this can come with a pretty hefty price tag. That’s why it’s such a pleasure to offer TWO tickets to the 2 p.m. Saturday performance of Central California Ballet’s production at the Saroyan Theatre to a lucky Beehive reader. The orchestra seats we’re giving away regularly cost $50 for adults (half-price for kids).

Winning the tickets is easy: Just tell us why you want to win. Or share a favorite “Nutcracker” memory. The winner will be randomly selected among all comments received and notified by e-mail (so use a real e-mail address). The deadline is 2 p.m. Thursday. No repeat comments please. You’re ineligible if you’ve won something in the past 30 days (the “Up in the Air” screening doesn’t count). Complete rules after the jump. You’ll need to pick up the tickets at The Bee’s front counter by 5 p.m. Friday.

“The Nutcracker” plays 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.

Only readers who submit a comment on this post are eligible. The winner will be picked at random among all commenters who comment on this post. Recipient will be notified by e-mail at the end of each giveaway period. No substitutions or transfer of winners/prizes. Must be 21 to win. Prizes are not redeemable for cash. Some prizes may have due dates for redemption/use. Employees and immediate family of The Fresno Bee, and any/all of the participating giveaway sponsors, are not eligible to win. By accepting a giveaway, recipient consents to allow the use of his/her name and/or photograph for advertising or similar promotions without further compensation. Winner releases all sponsors of liability regarding use and enjoyment of the prizes. Tax liabilities and insurance, if any, are sole responsibility of the winner. No purchase necessary to win.

I haven’t been to see the Nutcracker since I was a little kid and fell asleep at the theater because it was past my bedtime! I’d love to see it as an adult and be able to appreciate it.

Both of my daughters use to dance with the Fresno Ballet Company in their production of the Nutcracker. They were in elementary school back then. Now they are in high school and college and we haven’t been to the Nutcracker since they were little and dancing in the production. It would be a great surprise to have tickets to take them, where they could relive the memory of dancing in the Nutcracker!

I remember when I was little my sister was in a little local production. Haven’t seen it since then, would be very cool to see again.

Yvonne says:

My dad bought me a video tape of The Nutcracker when I was a little girl and taking ballet classes. Ever since then I’ve always wanted to see it live on stage, but never have for different reasons. Every year I try to go, but forget to buy tickets or ask for time off work. It would be a dream come true for me to see it live for the first time!

Never seen nutcracker ballet ever

My fond memory of the Nutcracker is performing music from The Nutcracker every year since 4th grade in band. I love that the music can tell the story on it’s own. I would love to hear the music to help reignite the musician in me since I will be picking up my musical instrument next semester to play with the Fresno City College band. [I haven't played music in 4 years]

Zeke says:
