The eight finalists for Chukchansi’s $10K local battle of the bands are …
Chukchansi Gold Resort & Casino has raised the stakes for local band battles with its Rock at the Top contest.
It’ll award $10,000 worth of cash and prizes to the top band and another $5,500 to runners up.
As you might expect, dozens and dozens of groups tried to make the cut for this. But the casino only chose eight for the Aug. 25 finals. They are:
- 40 Watt Hype
- Before Perils
- Dislodic
- Homebrew
- Lance Canales & The Flood
- Motel Drive
- Sea of Sound
- Strange Vine
The event starts at 4 p.m. and admission is free. Any predictions on who is going to take it?

Whomever Chukchansi had narrowing down the bands on this, they did a great job. So often these types of events end up with a bunch of no-name bands that don’t represent the actual scene. It’s nice to see eight heavy-hitters on this bill.
My prediction is that either 40 Watt or Sea of Sound.

It’s going to be Motel Drive. They are an awesome live act whose musical stylings are a treat for the ears!

This’ll really come down to who’s judging and what they prefer musically.
I, too, think it comes down to 40 Watt vs Motel Drive, both with such different styles but both immensely entertaining.
IN MY OPINION….MOTEL DRIVE IS ABSOLUTELY THE BEST LOCAL BAND EVER!!!! LOTS OF ROCK N ROLL,STYLE AND CHARM!!!

They are all great bands but Lance Canales is the best front man and vocalist in town. him with the flood is a sure win
