HEY, I KNOW THAT GUY: Two rock bands come visit the Valley this weekend with names you might not know, but dudes you might: The Accident Experiment (with Marcos Curiel from P.O.D.) plays Babylon on Friday, then Mini Mansions (with Michael Shuman of Queens of the Stone Age) plays at The Cellar Door in Visalia on Saturday.
40 UNDER 40: Another class of Fresno’s best and brightest professionals under 40 will be honored at the annual “40 Under 40″ celebration at The Chuk. Congrats to all those being honored — including my lovely wife. Thursday’s ceremony is open to anyone wanting to network. More info here.
MADONNA: DRAGGED: The Xotica show — the weekly drag show at The Express — does a Madonna themed show on Thursday night in honor of her new album.
CITY JAZZ: Fresno City College’s annual City Jazz Festival is Thursday. That means workshops and awards for students during the day, but a headliner concert at night for everyone. Mark Levine — the famous pianist, not the radio host — performs.
SOMETHING DIFFERENT: How about taking the fam up to ride the Sugar Pine Railroad at Yosemite? It opens this weekend.
