Other than playing games with your food.
1. WATCH SOME BASKETBALL
While we’ve been obsessing about our own bracket around here, we’ve yet to mention that the women’s NCAA Tournament is in Fresno this week. You can see the likes of Duke and Stanford playing. And, we presume, stand in some HUGE Doghouse Grill lines. [More]
2. ENTER THE WILD BLUE — AGAIN
Members of Fresno’s storied Wild Blue Yonder band are coming together again Saturday at Fulton 55. The group — a staple in the Tower District in the ’70s and ’80s — played a reunion show last September and packed Fulton 55 with fans itching to hear old Wild Blue tunes again. It was so successful, they’re doing it again. They’re joined by Fresno’s local Beatles tribute act, The Beetles. [Tickets]
3. YES, YOU MAY HAVE SOME DEATH METAL
Club Retro has a big show for the all-ages, screamy rock crowd: Whitechapel and Miss May I set up shop tonight. So if you like metalcore, death metal, deathcore or any other combination of those words, this is the place to be. [Tickets]
4. ENTER SOME OTHER HUNGER GAMES
Ever watch “Man v. Food” or any of those other food challenge shows and say, “I can do that?” Then consider Saturday’s Yeti Challenge at Sequoia Brewing Co. Both locations are having a contest to see who can eat its enormous Yeti Burger the quickest. The burger is 1/3 pound of meat with egg, bacon, ham, onion rings, cheese and more. Winners at each location will then face off next Saturday for a $500 prize. It costs $15 to enter — for the burger and a beer.
5. LET YOUR HEAD EXPLODE
Bay Area indie rocker Ty Segall will play what promises to be a high-energy show Sunday night at The Cellar Door in Visalia. He plays with a band called Taco Wagon, which I’ve never heard but is automatically my favorite band of all time. [Tickets]
