Five Things You Should Do This Weekend

Other than taking the kids — or yourself — to “Toy Story on Ice.” Or watching that football game.

1. AMP UP THE WATTAGE
Starline has a good one on Saturday as two crowd-pleasers combine — 40 Watt Hype and Clouded Vision. p.s. It’s my favorite poster of the week. [Tickets]

2. BE FIERCE & FREE
Indie rock cool kids Fierce Creatures headline Fulton 55 tonight — and it’s F-R-E-E. Can’t be mad at that. The Quiet Americans and Coast Jumper help out. They’re free too. Good news all around. [More]

4. LAUGH, POSSIBLY KNOCK BOOTS
There’s a new comedy night at Clovis’ Garden Hilton Inn and it’s run by — get this! — rapper Candyman. Yes, the dude from the 1990 hit “Knockin’ Boots.” Word is he’s living in the Valley now. Gonna have to find out more about that, but for now, you can see how he does as a comedy promoter. [Tickets]

5. TAKE A PEEK AT PK
SLO indie rockers PK — frequent Fresno guests, ’cause the band’s drummer is one of ours — stop by Kuppajoe tonight to for a music-video-debut show. The band just got done opening a couple shows for Angels & Airwaves in SoCal. [More]

BONUS
If you haven’t checked out revived downtown bar/gallery/club The Lamp Post and you’ve been meaning to, then Saturday’s show is a good reason.
