Mark your calendar: Christmas downtown
Looks like next weekend is taking shape as a big Christmas celebration in downtown Fresno. There’s the annual Christmas parade — which was resurrected after being canceled — at 10 a.m. Saturday. Afterward, the city has organized a variety of activities around downtown as part of something it’s calling WinterFest.
The cool thing about WinterFest is a “passport” game where attendees can win prizes while exploring downtown:
Pick-up a WinterFest passport at any of the locations above on Dec. 10 and plan to explore downtown Fresno! Collect a stamp at each stop then submit your completed passport entry sheet at the tree lighting ceremony and you might win holiday shopping money or other prizes!
The next day, Warnors Theatre hosts its inaugural Big Band Christmas concert, which theatre management says is an effort to start a new Christmas tradition.

What’s weird to me about the Big Band Christmas is how the Joe Lenigan Band’s name (who are awesome btw) is added to the flyer as almost an afterthought aside from some tiny copy that’s barely legible.
WinterFest is a cool idea. Kate Borders has her stuff together! That’s good. Looking forward to more DT annual events.
WinterFest IS a cool idea! But it wasn’t Kate Borders, it’s was the City’s! Yay, Go Fresno!
The Big Band Christmas flyer is beautiful and was provided by Joe Lenigan and his staff. This is a show not to be missed! It also includes talented students from the school districts and a first ever students from the Fresno Pipe Organ Academy playing carols on the historic Warnors Robert Morton pipe organ.
