Five Things You Should Do This Weekend
While you’re figuring out that last-minute Halloween costume.
1. LIVE LIKE A NEANDERTHAL
Neanderthals — one of Fresno’s favorite party bands in the late ’80s — has a reunion gig Saturday night at Fulton 55. If it’s anyting like that Wild Blue Yonder reunion, you can expect a big ol’ crowd. [Tickets]
2. NEVER TRUST A BIG BUTT AND A SMILE
Yes, ’90s R & B loyalists, the big event you’ve been waiting for is finally here — Bell Biv DeVoe, Color Me Badd, H-Town, etc. are at Save Mart Center tonight. Get your overalls ready and your Swatch watch and have a good ol’ time. [Tickets]
3. BE HELD CAPTIVE BY LOCAL ROCK
Promoter Love the Captive returns to the local scene tonight with a Halloween-themed night of local rock at Audie’s Olympic. Bring a costume or canned food for an even better/cheaper time. [More info]
4. DON’T BE SCARED OF DERBY
NOtown Roller Derby is back for another bout of hard-hatting action over at the Fresno Fairgrounds on Saturday. This is definitely more treat than trick — It’s NOtown’s last home bout of the season. [More info]
5. HAVE A BEAUTIFUL DAY
U2 tribute band The Joshua Tree hits Fulton 55 tonight. It’s probably the closest thing we’re going to see to a U2 show in the 559 anytime soon … so there ya go, U2 fans. [Tickets]
BONUS: HALLOWEEN
Couldn’t let you plan your weekend without a dose Halloween celebrations. Here are five more things you might wanna do — perhaps even while wearing a costume.

Definitely taking the kids to Spooktacular at Storyland. And I hear there’s some stuff that’s going to confuse the hell out of grandparents which is just going to add to the family awesome!
I’m going to try and win the $1,500 for the scariest costume at club Rome. I’m going to go as myself since that is what seems to scare the Latinas away. Can’t wait to see which Latina wins the $1,500 for sexiest costume. I bet she will look gorgeous. Happy Haloween err body!!!!
i’m trying to win the “sexist” costume from rome… male chauvinist pig? oh yea!
No ma’am!
