Rome Nightclub gets busted, fires off ALL CAPS rant in response

UPDATE: Today’s Bee has a bigger story on Rome’s booze shenanigans. You should read it. The general manager drops a number of gem quotes. Among them, he blames people being on medication and antidepressants, and ladies not being able to walk in high heels. Can’t make this stuff up.

ORIGINAL POST: Did you notice that everything seemed quiet over at Granite Park’s Rome Nightclub lately? So we knew this was coming. It was only a matter of time.

CBS 47 reported this week that the club got dinged by Alcoholic Beverage Control. for a number of violations and will have to serve a 15-day suspension of its liquor license and two years of probation.

[T]he investigation into Club Rome’s possible violations began back in March, a month after it opened. It includes 16 allegations, like patrons fighting, urinating inside the club, vomiting because of consuming too much alcohol, and attacking a police officer. Fresno police met with the club owner to talk about the 42 times officers have had to respond to incidents.

Rome’s response? An ALL CAPS rant that said it would serve the suspension in December and then said the club the victim in all this.

I know what you’re thinking: At least they’ll be able to serve booze when “The Situation” comes to visit on Oct. 22. How tragic could that have been?

such repeated social media fails by fresno clubs.
is no one minding the store?

ROME NIGHTCLUB (all caps seems to get your attention) I am available to consult you on how to handle your FaceBook account in a professional manner so you don’t look like lunatics and/or engender the ire of the very organizations that can pull the plug on you.

@dollgina says:

Please hire bradley.

Amanda H says:

It’s ignorant management/promoters like this that RUIN any chance of Fresno having a decent nightlife scene.

Yes, the city council and PD don’t help the matter but seriously.. THIS is your response Club Rome? Why don’t you spend some of that money you make from patrons that you allow to get drunk beyond recognition and hire an actual PR team that know how to handle these situations properly? Ghetto, ghetto, ghetto just like those who frequent your club.

I doubt you even know about the law in which it is illegal to serve severely drunk patrons, pathetic.

Jeffrey Whitaker says:

Absolutely well stated Amanda :))

CLUB RUIN says:

THIS IS A BIG CITY DANGIT. YOU HAVE TO EXPECT SOME THEFT AND RAPE AND MURDER! CRIMINALS WOULD BE JUST FINE IF THE FPD DIDN’T HAVE A HARD ON FOR CATCHING THEM AND PREVENTING CRIME!!

THIS IS VARTANIAN* BEHAVIOR BY THE CITY! DON’T THEY WANT PEOPLE TO HAVE A PLACE TO GO HAVE FUN AND HAVE JUST 42 INCIDENTS WHERE POLICE HAVE TO SHOW UP AND BE TAKEN AWAY FROM OTHER STUFF??

*”Vartanian” = “Ridiculous”

Hector says:

I totally agree with with Amanda H! Tacky and GHETTO!

Stephen says:

and y’know, the ABC does give you an option to pay a fine rather than serve your suspension. A BIG fine, but hey, the club could stay open.

Cuz now where are the 1200 people a night gonna go to fight and urinate and puke?

PS–Hey Club Rome Owner Who’s Name is NOT Vartanian? You should’ve served your suspension starting yesterday. Nobody competes well against the fair. Instead you’re going to lose your holiday business and momentum? Yikeez.

bradley says:

By the way, I am 100% serious. I am a marketing, branding and social media professional. You need to take your FaceBook account out of the hands of event promotion and run it professionally. Based on what happened today, you also need a media and community relations response plan in place to guide you on how to respond to PR issues.

Whether you use me or another PR professional, I urge you, get one.

Ultimately, it may mean the difference between staying in business or not.

grendel_loki says:

I disagree. I think this facebook post makes them even radder, and I actually want to go now to see what this place is all about. If half the stuff that the ABC says actually goes down, this sounds like a pretty badass spot.

I went to Hero’s on Monday. Also, that one dive bar on Gettysburg and Blackstone… forget the name. Both were dead as a doornail. Maybe because it was a monday.

Anyways, this is all kinds of awesome. Too many business are too damn PC nowadays.

Ginny says:

I don’t care as long as there are still plenty of restaurants where halfway through my meal I can deal with workers transforming the place into a nightclub. Color me “In the mix”, “dressing to impress” (No gang colors) so I can get my V.I.P. on and lap up that “bottle service.”
Fresno, you try so damn hard.

Michael says:

Makes them even radder?

Elle_BC says:

“THIS IS A BIG CITY… YOU HAVE TO EXPECT SOME THEFT AND RAPE AND MURDER!”

WTF? Really?

Listen to yourself. I am not conservative by any means, but when I head to Las Vegas to get my 3-day party bender on, I’m not applying mascara thinking “Golly, I hope I get raped and murdered this weekend!”

Disgusting. People can have fun AND be safe – unless there are assholes like you screwing it up.

Mike Oz says:

might want to read that again with your sarcasm glasses on.

Dizzle says:

Who gives a crap? We all know this place will be done in less than a year anyways! It sucks that this town can’t have any fun places to go out and dance. Twist closing was sad. But really, I don’t career about Rome. Any place that Lewis Everk attaches his name to at any time is a low rent, low class place

Ramon says:

Wobbling like a woman in high heels TICKLES..:-)

Claire L says:

Haha Ha Ha HA HA HA ha….haha….

I’m sorry….this is even funnier than watching MSM call American demonstrators ‘mobs’…… at least this isn’t the road to Facism.

jaurique says:

“Ghetto, ghetto, ghetto just like those who frequent your club.” are you serious? this club has more VIP booths then any club from Bakersfield to San Jose and they are always sold out. The VIP’s are at a Minimum $750 per area. If ghetto people can afford this every weekend then Fresno Ghetto people are doing something right. I guess since you are in Las Vegas now you are to high class for your hometown. But seriously if you and the other PR teams do your job in this fashion then that is more reason we shouldnt hire PR teams cause as you say “they are to ghetto”.

Grendel_loki says:

Did I stutter?

Michael says:

Why is that always someone’s response when someone repeats something they said?

Monac says:

Staff is offensive and managers are unethical. I see now that he runs his publicity like he runs his business.

We arranged for a group of 20 people to arrive at the club. When the group reached the front of the line one person was told $10 per person cover and he paid for the entire group to enter. Half of the group was allowed in and the other half were told to wait in a different line. When we reached to top of that line we were told the cover was $20 per person. I told the doorman our friend had already paid, he said he didn’t care. I called bull**** and was then told I was not allowed to enter the club at all and that I was “too fat to come in anyway,” (this is from Rome’s staff mind you).

When my friend inside asked to speak with a manager about why his friends were denied entry the manager said it was the doorman’s decision. My friend then said he wanted a refund for the half of the group denied entry. The manager said no.
