Five Things You Should Do This Weekend

Other than racking your brain for Scribbles captions …

1. FIND SOME TREASURE
Pretty big DJ coup for Fresno tonight at Twist. The globe-trotting Treasure Fingers, of the ultra-hip Fools Gold camp, races into town tonight. It’s a Scion-sponsored event, and you can get in free with VIP treatment if you test drive a car between 5-9 p.m. [Info]

2. FIND SOME LAUGHS
It’s a good weekend to get out and chuckle. Both Heroes and Thai Palms have weekend-spanning comedy options. The good thing? You could see both. Thai Palms has Thai Rivera (who we hear packed the house last night at The Press Box) performing tonight and Saturday. Meanwhile, Heroes has Flip Schultz tonight-Sunday as part of its new six-days-a-week comedy thing. [Info / Tickets]

3. DON’T BE STARVED FOR AUDIO
Dig bands such as Sublime? Then bring your rock-meets-ska-meets-reggae lovin’ self to Fulton 55 tonight for a night of music with Audiodub and Starving Millionaires. [Tickets]

4. RIDE YOUR TRIKE TO SEE BLAKE JONES
See the beloved ’60s pop-inspired sounds of the Blake Jones and the Trike Shop in Fresno for the first time in a while. They just finished up a trip to Liverpool, and are playing their homecoming Saturday night at Full Circle Brewing Co. [Info]

5. MAKE A WINERY YOUR ROCKVILLE
Spurred by the success of its Friday night live music series, ApCal Winery in Madera is now doing a Saturday night live music series too. This Saturday brings everywhere-these-days cover band Rockville, which plays classic rock, pop and R & B. [Info]

Andrea says:

Insect, (made up of former local band Nosedive members Mike and Chris) will be performing at Fulton 55 on Saturday. Their live show is definitely one of a kind, I would recommend checking it out.

blake says:

Thanks Mr. Oz for the plug here and in the paper. I hope your continued support for local music efforts is never taken for granted.

blake says:

and forgive my ego here (laughs):…our first trip to England, four years ago, was primarily for a couple of shows in Liverpool, though we did also play in a northern midlands city called Bradford as well. This year’s trip was a more extensive tour. It included 3 different sets in Liverpool, as well as a few shows in Manchester and down south in London. It was great fun, and we felt the love of Fresnan supporters all the way. If anyone’s curious, and wants to hear the stories, of course, you can come to the show Saturday night (slide show, etc.) and/or go over and read the blog at http://www.blakejonesmusic.com/more
Thanks!–B.
