While also celebrating 10/10/10 …
1. GO THE BIG FRESNO FAIR
Cinnamon rolls, concerts, games you’ll never win, the best people-watching in town — it’s all there at The Big Fresno Fair, and you know you wanna go.
For the fair’s first weekend, the concert lineup includes Joe Nichols & Stealing Angels (tonight), Chubby Checker (Saturday), Selena Gomez (2 p.m. Sunday, but sold out) and Lupillo Rivera (7:30 p.m. Sunday and free). You can read about some other stuff that made our fair “to-do list” right here.
2. SEE A SEA AND A STORY
Not only is indie/folkster Sea Wolf worth a nod here based on his own laurels, but when you add that he’s playing at Storyland on Saturday night, it’s bound to be an magical event. More on the event, and the parties behind it, from today’s Bee.
3. BIKE THROUGH HISTORY
I can’t say enough good things about Saturday morning’s Bike Through History event. I think it’s a great way for the city of celebrate its 125th birthday while also getting people downtown and thinking about our city’s past. Plus, it’s free and family-friendly. Win all around. More info here.
4. CELEBRATE JOHN LENNON
Saturday would have been John Lennon’s 70th birthday. So local bands The Loungemen and Blake Jones & The Trike Shop are doing a gig at Full Circle Brewing Co. to honor Lennon’s legacy. You should also read up on The Loungemen, who are this week’s Artist You Should Know in The Bee.
5. WATCH SOME DANCERS WHO MAY NOT BE WEARING A LOT OF CLOTHES
I told ya the other day about Saturday night’s “Men of Playgirl” show at Tower Theatre. So there’s that. But if you want something a little more classy but still kinda risque, then Full Circle Brewing Co. has a bellydancing showcase on Saturday night. And yummy beer. Can’t forget the yummy beer.
