While I start my vacation … see y’all on June 7! Have fun until then, Fresno!
1. SOAK IN THE SUDZ
Sudz in the City is Saturday. That means lots and lots and lots and lots of beer. This year, they’ve done away with the whole “you get x number of tickets” deal, and instead you just get as much beer as you can wait in line for — though the lines will be long. There’s also food, music and all that kinda stuff. But beer is the main attraction, and there are 48 different types this year. More details here. And check out our Sudz in the City vs. Sex in the City comparison should you find yourself in such a predicament.
2. CALL YOUR COMEDY CONNECTION
Tonight is the launch of A.C.’s Comedy Connection, a new stand-up comedy promoter duo in town who are committed to putting on big ol’ comedy shows that mix local and national acts. Tonight’s is headlined by Jay Davis of the Laugh Factory and from Dane Cook’s Tourgasm. Fresno Famous has a good story about what A.C.’s Comedy Connection is trying to do. Check it out here.
3. GO GAGA
If you love Lady Gaga — and let’s face it, lots of people do — then you gotta know about the Gaga Ball happening this weekend at The Express. Wear your best Gaga-inspired garb and go party. It’s sorta like this week’s episode of “Glee.” I wonder if Chris Colfer will be there?
4. REMEMBER YOUR OLD PUNK DAYS
The antithesis of the Gaga Ball has to be tonight’s reunion show/final gig for ’80s punk band Toxic Shock at Starline. Read the story behind the band’s reunion in this Bee story.
5. CATCH A BEATDOWN
Pretty fresh night at Palomino’s on Sunday for the hip-hop heads. DJ Don D has thrown together this Battle of the Beats night that includes DJs, beatmakers, live drummers and emcees. Bring your (break)dancing shows.
