After you get done playing Pac-Man on Google’s home page …
1. REV IT UP
Today starts the second annual Fulton Rev Fest, a festival of all things motorcycles on the Fulton Mall. There’s a lot happening: A parade down the mall tonight, an afterparty at Club One Casino with Motel Drive, a full day of live music on Saturday, a day-long motorcycle show. Oh, and admission is totally free. Vroom, vroom.
2. FLY RITE WITH BIG SANDY
If you’re familiar with Big Sandy & His Fly Rite Boys, you probably don’t need me to convince you to get down to Audie’s Olympic tonight. But if you’ve never heard of them, you gotta trust me on this — these guys are awesome! They’re a rockabilly/western swing band with the right amount of authentic, vintage touch (listen here). It’s made Big Sandy one of the bigger names in rockabilly. So expect a big crowd tonight.
4. GIVE CONTE A HAPPY HOMECOMING
Bruce Conte is one of the more successful Fresno-bred musicians, having played with Tower of Power for years and maintaining a solo career that keeps him traveling the world. The guitarist is playing his first local club gig in years — Saturday night at Audie’s. Read up on him and what he’s been up on in this Q & A.
5. DON’T FORGET THE JELLY
Austin’s hosts a wild rock show tonight, as Green Jelly and Psychostick get together for Jellyfest. They’re both comedy-infused rock bands. Green Jelly is best known for “Little Pig, Little Pig” and Psychostick’s most famous work is this song dedicated to beer.
