Besides loving somebody or something …
1. SEE A GREAT SHOW
I’m super psyched about this show tonight at Audie’s — it features Strange Vine (who I think is the best band in Fresno right now), The Stones Foxes (a great classic rock-ish band outta S.F. with Fresno-area roots) and Still Time (a SLO band that fans of Dave Matthews and Ben Harper oughta love). You can read a little more about it in today’s music roundup in The Bee.
2. REVEL IN MARDI GRAS
It’s just about Mardi Gras time here in Fresno. Sunday offers a few good options, starting with the Tower District Mardi Gras parade at 1 p.m. Audie’s Olympic is a good place to be afterward — Glen Delpit is playing directly after the parade and Viper City Brass Band, a New Orleans-style brass band, is playing at 9 p.m. with funk band DB and the Struggle also on the bill. Check out more Mardi Gras info here.
4. BE IN A MUSIC VIDEO … AND THEN SOME
Awesome local rockabilly band Motel Drive has a big show Saturday night at Audie’s Olympic (should be a hoot), and is also shooting a music video at Audie’s in the afternoon. So head on over, if you want to be in it.
5. SPREAD THE LOVE
Love Act is holding its first mixer tonight at Thai Palms — the aim of the event to to connect the public to “some of the hippest local businesses in town.” Love Act. I’ll say this: DJ Don D is dope.
