Five Things You Should Do This Weekend
Other than watch those silly Grammys …
HELP HAITI
I’ve written a bunch lately about various Haiti benefit concerts in the area (check out my column in today’s Bee if you haven’t yet). If you like Warped Tour-ready rock, then head to Kuppajoe tonight to see Confide and others raise some money for Haiti.
GET SOME DEKE
Rockabilly king Deke Dickerson is back in Fresno on Saturday night, playing Audie’s with Cattie Ness & The Revenge and Jailbreak. If you’re a fan of Social Distortion, you might be thrilled to know that Brent Harding, Social D’s bass playing, will be joining Dickerson for the night.
DON’T GO SOLO
For innovative metal that appeals to headbangers and hipsters alike, check out local group Trumpet Solo, playing tonight at Tokyo Garden. The blogosphere loves these guys, and you might too.
BE A MONSTER
The Monsters — Fresno’s upstart (and very winning) hockey team — closes out its regular season at home tonight. It’s Fan Appreciation Night and tickets cost $7. Lucky for monsters fans, there’s playoff hockey coming soon.
BUY A PIECE OF ROCK HISTORY
The rock collectors out there might want to head out the 12th annual Rock & Roll Auction on Saturday at Chukchansi Gold Resort & Casino. It’s put on by 104.1 and 95.7, The Fox with proceeds going to Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Central Valley. You can bid on items signed by Taylor Swift, The Rolling Stones, Metallica, U2 and more.

So…I take it this ‘Villain’ is Armenian?
I really need to get to a Monsters game soon. I know my son would love it. Good luck to Ronald McDonald House Charities this weekend!
My Beautiful Surrender is a great up-n-coming band! Go to Kuppajoe!
