Other than walking Christmas Tree Lane …
1. HAVE A TASTE OF BRAZIL
Local music wunderkind Eva Scow has brought her most recent band to Fresno (seriously, she’s in more bands than probably even she can keep count of). This one is the Brazilian Jazz Collective and it’s playing Saturday night at Hero’s. You can also try the under-new-ownership Hero’s and report back to us.
2. DO SOME VOODOO
Ska/punk band Voodoo Glow Skulls sneak into Audie’s Olympic on Sunday. This one seems like a pretty big deal. We dunno why more people aren’t talking about this. Show some support, Fresno!
3. BE A RAD RACER
Have you heard about the motorcycle ice racing event Saturday night at Save Mart Center? Yep, it’s a real thing. It totally sounds like a video game, but it’s not. They even got “outlaw quads” out there shredding up the ice too. Perhaps something new to try.
4. GET YOUR PHIL
Nashville “twisted Americana” artist Phil Lee stops at Full Circle Brewing Co. We think “twisted Americana” basically means that means he does Americana type songs but reserves the right to use the F-word. He’s joined by The Councilmen and Fresno’s own Brad “The Dudeboy” Rogers.
5. YOU CAN ROGUE IF YOU WANT TO
I’m not sure if this officially a “Rogue Year Round” event (or if they even have those anymore) … but you can catch Rogue Festival fave Airplane Jayne as she tries to find her “Mann-I-Cann.” Maybe it’s you. Or maybe you’ll get a laugh out of her one-woman performance. It’s happening at KP’s Actor Gym.
