Five Things You Should Do This Weekend

You know, if there’s no room left on the party bus for you …

1. SEE KWELI & FASHAWN
Fashawn is back in town Saturday night for this CD release party with underground rap hero Talib Kweli. It will actually be Fashawn’s first Fresno show this year. Good news for him: “Boy Meets World,” was the top-selling hip-hop CD at Amoeba this week. It was as high as No. 6 on the iTunes hip-hop charts too.

Afterward, it looks like Palomino’s (just a couple doors down from the Tower Theatre) will be a good spot to chill. It’s Body Rock with Don D, which is always a funky night.

2. VOYAGE TO REVUE
For a night of female-fueled poetry and music, head to Across the Pond tonight at Revue.

3. DOGS IN COSTUMES
While I won’t be putting my dog through this again, I’m sure there’s gonna be some cute doggies out at the annual Pooch Parade and Canine Carnival in the Tower District.

4. FULFILL YOUR DARKEST DESIRES
Later Saturday night, put the puppies away and head to Starline for a sultry night of burlesque, theater and music. It’s called Dark Desires … uhhh … is it getting hot in here? Or is just the dogs?

5. GET LUCKY
Super Lucky Catz are having a CD release party over at Full Circle Brewing Co. on Saturday night. We haven’t seen them around a lot lately, but we’re sure SLC still brings the soulful goodness.

Well, I attend two out of the listing and I’m happy I did for sure! Shoot bro, I had no idea about the poetry gig being on the FTYSDTW, FTW!!!

Fashawn and Hecktik killed it with their show too and I’m happy Fresno turned out to support a local artist whose star is rapidly rising!
