Kids’ reactions priceless at fair fish roundup
Check out the photo that ran on the front page of today’s Bee. Kara Heckman, 7, is hoisting a net with a thrashing catfish in it. Kara, I’d be hollering with my eyes closed too if I were that close to a giant catfish.
She and others were rounding up fish from the Catfish Falls tank at the Big Fresno Fair yesterday to be donated to the Poverello House.
The rest of the photos in this gallery by Bee photographer John Walker are just as entertaining as fair staff and their little children round up the fish. The reactions on the kids’ faces are priceless. There’s more funny moments in the video too.
You can tell John is standing in the water while taking the pics. He said he knew he had to get in there to get the good shots and asked a fair worker for a spare pair of rubber boots. But the hugely talented John said he’d probably have waded in anyway even without the boots if he had to.
