Shows to look forward to this week

It’s a busy week for music around these parts — no place is busier than Visalia, where promoter Aaron Gomes has once again showed us why he needs to be cloned and put to work in other cities. Starting with Fresno.

In addition to the Billy Corgan show on Wednesday, Gomes’ Sound-N-Vision Foundation also has dates lined up with Ted Leo and the Pharmacists (Tues.), Los Campesinos! (Wed.), Sleepy Sun (Thurs. at Cellar Door), Paz (Fri.) and Matt & Kim (Sat. at Howie & Son’s). Now here are some graphics on a few of those:

In cities not named Visaila, there are also some noteworthy events, including Nico Vega at Audie’s and a big CD release show from local group DB & The Struggle. Here are fliers for those and more:

Hats off to Mike Oz for showing some love to the unknown, itinerant troubadour. Hope to see you all at the show Saturday night!

And we’re grateful for it!

Except for ‘Hot August Nights,’ how about lots of kudos for the great flyers on this page?

Some good art on some, an amazing closeup on the troubadour (not easy to pull off, Earl J), easy to read on all.

By the way, you missed a great show of all-pros at the Starline last night. Those hip-hopsters from Boston and Philly were real professionals, giving thier all onstage with tight sets, flawless interaction with their DJs, and high (‘high’) energy. Best hip-hop show I’ve ever seen, putting Fashawn and co (who are good, mind you) to absolute shame.

Great stuff, and the crowd was okay, also (God I hate the underage testosterone idiots tho who do NOT know how to act at shows – being told by the band to not crush the women, breaking equipment, jumping on stage like they’re performing, total idiot jerks with no parents, clearly…it’s an embarassment to Fresno).

Finest point? Those performers all respected the HELL out of the club, making sure to thank the staff and bartenders personally (save Jedi Mind Tricks, who understandably had to be rushed out and driven away quickly post-show, tho they were very nice guys also). A true example to hip-hoppers everywhere. Kudos to Bobby and John for constantly moving around to ensure a good safe show also as the promoters. True examples to promoters in Fresno.

Now if only people would follow these examples…
