Weekend Rewind: Extreme edition

warnors.jpg

Here’s a look back at my weekend. Did you do anything good? Spill it in the comments.

FRIDAY
- All I could muster after a long week that included Rogue Festival and Kids Day was a quick jaunt over to Livingstone’s. Quesadilla. Yum.

SATURDAY
- I caught Ryan Paulson’s “I’m Uncomfortable,” which had a crazy line for a 11:30 a.m. show. The show was hilarious and was a good way to end this year’s Rogue for me. I hope he comes back next year with another show. So far he’s 2-for-2 in my book.

- The Fresno Home & Garden show was PACKED. Like Christmas-at-the-mall packed. Like testing-your-patience-not-to-scream-at-someone packed. I was pretty ho-hum on the show for the first half of it, but I ended up finding some backyard/landscaping ideas that I dug.

- Caught psychic/clairvoyant Lisa Williams at the Warnors Theatre. I was intrigued for a few reasons: (1) I hadn’t been to the Warnors in a while. (2) This was a different type of show for Fresno and I wanted to see what it was like. (3) I’m not sure whether I believe in the whole “I talk to dead people” thing. The show didn’t really make up my mind on the last one. Some of the stuff she told people seemed pretty amazing, but then some of it seemed like logical guesses. I do know that I was awestruck by how beautiful that theater is. It was very nice to see it lit up while driving around downtown.

SUNDAY
- Didn’t watch “Extreme Makeover: Fresno Edition.” Negative 10 Fresno points for me, eh?

i watched extreme makeover, and i was crying 7 minutes in. but there were about 119 Did They Just Say Fresno? moments (albeit expected ones).

here’s a question for those who watched it: when does accessible turn to excessive?

james says:

I’m surprised to hear the Home & Garden show was so packed, considering we’re in a recession and all.

MsJoey says:

I did nothing exciting….except dreadlocked my daughters hair.

Mike Oz says:

@james: yeah, I was surprised too — some of those exhibit halls had be reading to smack a person for meandering

Kathy says:

Met the family 2x for meals, shopped and went on a bike ride across Fresno (such a nice day Sunday) and topped off the weekend with Extreme Makeover (the usual tearjerker; Fresno looked good).

Mr. Incognito says:

I actually ventured out to Starline on Friday night and I caught The Parking Lot Profits do some spoken word; they were pretty fresh!

Fresno is on the up and up for sure…

Chris says:

I too saw the Parking Lot Profits, and thought they were legit. They kept me listening, and wondering when the next guy was going to pop out of the crowd. I liked it.

Saturday I watched a guy paint a sweet piece on the back of Fred’s, and made my first trip to the Peach Pit. (Loved the chili fries)

Sunday – WATCHMEN. IMAX. – don’t think I can say enough.
