The two biggest stars at NBC’s party Tuesday night at the TCA summer press tour were Crystal, the monkey from the new comedy series “Animal Practice,” and the former candidate for Vice President, Sarah Palin.
Crystal was at the event because she’s got the new series. Palin showed up to be with her husband, Todd, because he’s in the the new NBC reality show “Stars Earn Stripes.” The series matches celebrities with members of the military and law enforcement to be trained to participate in challenges based on real military and police actions.
Palin says it would take a lot of work if she were do be on a second season of “Stars Earn Stripes.”
“I would have to be doing a whole lot of push-ups,” Palin says. “I don’t think physically I would be able to handle what they have gone through. It will blow you guys away when you see what they have to do. I was witness to the bumps and bruises at the end of some of the days.
“I was really happy Todd got to participate in such a worthy cause.”"
She understands the demands of the military as her son, Track, is in Afghanistan. Palin says that what her son and the other members of the military go through is far beyond the TV show.
As for which was tougher — politics or the military — Palin laughs and says politics can be very brutal.
That’s why it was a little odd to see both Palins at NBC’s press day considering how tough the network’s “Saturday Night Live” was to her during the campaign. Todd says that wasn’t even in his mind when he said he would participate. He agreed to be part of the show because it brings attention to the brave men and women who protect this country.
He did more than just stand by quietly when Palin was on the campaign trail. He learned the right way to answer a question.
Crystal had no comment.
