On TV tonight: ‘Glee’

Film Review Glee The 3D Concert Movie.JPG “Glee” 8 p.m. KMPH (Channel 26.1): Has the shine gone from this series? The early ratings for this season haven’t been great and that comes on the heels of the 3D concert movie flopping at the box office. Then there was that debacle with saying certain popular cast members wouldn’t be coming back. Even the buzz on the Internet has been minimal.

If the show is in trouble, there’s a question of how much series creator Ryan Murphy will be able to help. His new series, “American Horror Story,” launches next week. It’s an ambitious project that’s going to need all of his energy if it is to survive.

In an effort to give “Glee” a spark, Idina Menzel returns tonight. This kind of stunt casting is getting a little old.

The episode does feature a couple of good musical numbers but there is a really feeling of – been there, done that – slipping into each new episode.

For me, I think the initial interest was because it was fun to watch reinterpretations of some good … and not so good songs with some high school hijinx thrown in. Now… the show has just become, in my mind, a vehicle for social commentary.

I watch TV to escape the stresses of daily life, not so agendas, even those I AGREE with, can be pushed down my throat.

Sometimes you just want to get away from it ALL.

I STILL ENJOY IT BUT LOOKING FOR NEW TALENT TO STAY AND I ALSO AM TIRED OF THEM TRYING TO BRING HOMXESUALITY INTO EACH SHOW. I MAY BE NOT UP ON WHAT KIDS ARE DOING IN SCHOOL THESE DAYS BUT I AM PRETTY SURE THERE IS MORE GOING ON. PERHAPS THEY CAN ADD SOMETHING POSITIVE. THEY NEED TO START PLANING ON HOW THEY ARE TO PROCEED BEFORE IT IS TO LATE.
