Observations from a grumpy old man
Observations from a grumpy old man.
Catching my attention in the entertainment world are bad emergency calls, crazy days for reality show, cancellations and big anniversaries.
- Police went to the home of Ashton Kutcher because of a fake 911 call. When they got there they found it empty with nothing of interest happening. The police didn’t find that funny. Now the cops know how we feel when we watch Kutcher’s version of “Two and a Half Men.”
- The lineup has been announced for a celebrity version of “Celebrity Apprentice” and Gary Busey is among the all-stars. That’s really unfair. Busey never realized that he had been fired from the last time he was on the NBC reality competition show.
- CBS canceled “Made in Jersey.” Snooki wept.
- James Bond turned 50. The celebration included a cake with candles that could turn into rockets and a buttercream topping that doubled as explosives.
- NBC has delayed the return of “Community” and “Whitney.” The reason network executives are giving is that they want to concentrate on promoting this season’s new shows. What that really means is NBC now wishes it had canceled both shows when it had the chance.

It seems networks don’t or won’t give a show time to develop. I kind of compare it to a guy who gets on a major league team, then strikes out his 1st 2 at bats. After gets released…
Rick, I knew Heather McLane. I worked with Heather McLane.
You, sir, are no Heather McLane.
But then again, who is?
Let’s leave the celeb snark to someone suited for it, yes?
Where did he say he was trying to be her? I think this is a great post and I would like to see more of them. Keep ‘em coming, Rick!
no kidding. rick, perfect your snark before trying it on the beehive. your coworkers have done it much better.
For what it’s worth: If you’ve read Rick Bentley’s stuff over the years (long before Heather or The Beehive or blogs in general, mind you), his snark here is the same. It’s what’s in his movie reviews, TV reviews and his celebrity stories.
True, Rick’s writing style has been the same since I’ve been reading him (which is forever).
But he only started these celeb snark blogs once Heather left. The Beehive shouldn’t tread on those sacred waters until they have someone who can do snark and gossip well enough to meet the standards already set here.
I still love Rick’s interviews with celebs – he gets great access for a mid-sized town’s paper, which is cool. But the grumpy man stuff? Not safe for the Hive.
Whitney yes……nothing to see here…..
Community….NOOOooooooooooo……I love me some nutty theme shows!
