Football hangover anyone?

football.jpg

I don’t know about you, but my weekend was all about football.

Saturday, I slipped in reading a few chapters for my class while flipping between college matches. The main game in my house was Ohio State vs. Miami. My husband is an U alum so we don’t miss any Miami games if we can help it. Unfortunately they lost (bad, bad tackling … see that photo!). But that didn’t take away the fun of watching other close matches. Over the years, I’ve really become a fan of college football. I love an upset. I love seeing a last-minute win. I love the fans. It’s all good.

Then Sunday, it was NFL time. My team, the Chargers, plays tonight so I just flipped around checking out different games.

I did take a break. The weather was just too enticing to stay inside watching TV all day. So I hit the Clovis bike trails, which was hopping with super cheerful folks. I even ran into a handful of friends along the way. Maybe I wasn’t the only one who needed to get out? It was a great way to shake off the couch-potato stiffness that comes with watching hours of football (and reading what seemed like a never-ending text book — oh the joys of being back in college).

The good thing is I’ve still got my game tonight to punctuate what was a fun start of the pro football season. I can’t wait to see what Fresno State’s Ryan Mathews does tonight. Go Bolts!

Anyone else overdose on football this weekend?

My Niners still blow. All these good players and they are being held back by an pathetic QB. truly depressing.

You are to be commended for managing to escape football’s clutches for a few hours. I, on the other hand, was not as successful. I LOVE opening weekend. Nothing like some mouth-smashing fun to snap you out of the dogdays of summer funk. And if this weekend was any indication (both my Steelers and fantasy teams won), it’s gonna be one helluva season!

If Alex starts next week, Singletary should be fired!
