George Takata moving to ‘Sunrise’

george_lgEven while Matt Rosenfeld — general manager of KSEE24 and KGPE47 — was talking about how the blending of the two local TV stations would create a strong sports staff of George Takata, Anthony Flores, Andrew Marden and Devon Thrasher, there were rumors Rosenfeld had other plans for Takata.

All that buzz was right because after 16 years as a sports reporter, Takata will become the new co-anchor with Carina Corral of “KSEE Sunrise.” His debut is scheduled for Oct. 31.

Takata’s one of the best sports reporters in the market but the movie will be a big boost for the NBC station’s morning show.

He’s been at KGPE since graduating from Fresno State. During his time in sports, Takata’s done everything from write the children’s book “TimeOut’s Great Baseball Adventure: How Fresno State’s Favorite Bulldog Helped the Diamond Dogs Win the College World Series” to covering the NIT Final Four at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
