KFIG’s Guy Haberman leaving Fresno for San Francisco

San Francisco’s KGMZ (FM, 95.7) is reporting Guy Haberman, heard locally on KFIG (AM, 940), is joining the Bay Area radio station on Dec. 3. He will take over the 7-10 p.m. weeknight time slot plus host the weekday Oakland Athletics “Pre-Game Dugout Show” and “Post-Game A’s Talk” programs during baseball season.

Haberman has been heard locally 3-6 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 7-9 a.m. Fridays. Along with his duties at KFIG, Haberman worked with the Fresno Grizzlies, WAC Sports Network plus Fresno State University’s women’s basketball and softball teams.

His departure comes just weeks after a deal was made to switch programming off of KFIG of its previous dial spot at AM 1430 to the 50,000-watt 940 AM.

This is a major move for Haberman as he goes from the Fresno market, ranked 67th, to fourth ranked San Francisco market.

I have been listening to him for about 2 years or so. One could always tell that Fresno was just a stop for him on his way to bigger things.

Guy is a total pro and deserves the promotion. I hope he can appreciate the A’s although he’s a huge Giants fan. congrats!

I’ve had the pleasure of talking with Guy at his different on location sets. He is a very nice person. He shows you can still be entertaining without being a contrarian all the time like a lot of sports talk hosts. We’ll miss him but wish him all the best in his new venture.

Sara Schoonover says:

Congrats Guy!
