Photo of the day: Firefighter revives cat

I just had to share this heartwarming photo of Fresno firefighter Peter Neff reviving a smoke-stricken kitty at an apartment fire yesterday. Fresno Fire Department spokesman Koby Johns sent this photo over and said this happens more often than you’d think. Cats and dogs often pass out from the smoke, but “with a little bit of oxygen … a little bit of gentle rubbing, a lot of time they come back.” The firefighter is using a human oxygen mask here, but the department is in the process of getting specialized equipment for pets. Kudos to them.

So happy to see this. Animals are just like family members. I know, because the one time I had to call the fire dept for a fire, I ran in to save my cat, even though it wasn’t the smartest thing to do. I just had to make sure she was safe.
