There’s been lots of concert news coming down the pipeline of late. It’s good news for fans of:
1.) 1990s nu metal.
2.) 1980s proto-punk rock
3.) 1960s pop-rock
4.) The artist formerly known as Hootie.
And we’ve already mentioned some of the shows coming to Strummer’s, the venue formerly known as The Starline that is currently being booked by Numbskull productions. The venue is announcing new shows almost weekly. It will host The Plain White T’s Aug. 10. This looks to be an early show. Nerdcore artist MC Chris is also scheduled for that night. Cherie Currie, of Runaways fame will play Aug. 16, rapper Mickey Avalon plays Aug. 17 and nu metal band P.O.D. is on tap for Sept. 13.
The Big Fresno Fair continues to update the schedule for its Table Mountain Concert Series. New to the list: Rapper/singer Sean Kingston and B. Smyth Oct. 5, 1960s pop-music icon Neil Sedaka (“Calendar Girl”) Oct. 7, Bakersfield nu-metal band Korn Oct. 11 and ex-Hootie-turned country star Darius Rucker Oct. 14. Tickets are on sale Aug. 12 (July 31 for Big Fair Fan Club members).
The Madera Fair (which runs Sept. 5-8) also has its concert lineup out. It includes the popular Chicano rock power trio Los Lonely Boys Sept. 5, country singer Scotty McCreery Sept 6, rock band Lifehouse Sept. 7 and Latin musician and “Larrymania” star, Larry Hernandez Sept. 8.
