'Watchmen' Web page + your review = win a prize
The reactions I have been getting to "Watchmen" have been very different. Some thing it is a masterpiece. Others were confused by the story. Critics generally like it. Of the 247 reviews of the film on rottentomatoes.com, 160 are positive.
It's certainly done well at the box office. Going into this weekend, the movie has earned more than $65 million in the United States. Toss in an additional $25 million from around the globe and the movie is getting very near the $100 million mark.
And, more than half of the movie tickets being sold at the Web site Fandango.com are for "Watchmen."
We have certainly tried to make the movie a fun experience for the fans and a learning experience for the uneducated. The Fresno Bee has put together a "Watchmen" Web page at http://www.fresnobee.com/static/2009/entertainment/watchmen/. Those who have checked out the site have enjoyed it. Now, there's now another reason to go to the Web page. You could win a prize.
Here's what you need to do. First go to the above mentioned Web page. Check out the interviews, audio clips and photos. Be sure to look for the Easter egg.
Then come back to this blog and give me your review of the "Watchmen" movie in 50 words or less. Each review comment will be put into a drawing for several "Watchmen" oriented prizes. This includes an X-box video game system and movie posters.
I'll give you a week.
And now for the mandatory rules.

Comments:
I'm one of those who thinks its a masterpiece. I've seen it twice so far at IMAX (and need to see it again). In my opinion, it's the best way to experience it.

Truly a great film that will alienate people. The hardcore will hate it for deviating so much from the source material while the mainstream will hate it for not being "X-Men".

I really think that this is a movie that you can go back and see again and again and find something new. I am really looking forward to seeing it in IMAX.

I thought the film was hit and miss all around. Actors playing Rorschach and Comedian were spot on. Those playing Silk Spectre II and Adrian not so much. The music often seemed out of place. It was visually stunning. The ending was extremely disappointing. Wish I had more than 50 words.

Certainly one of the more anticipated movies of all time, I headed to see it on the IMAX as soon as I could. The best thing about the movie? It was coherent, even if you haven't read the comic. The worst? My popcorn ran out.

For this movie there will three audiences, the die hard fans who will not like it, those who will like it not matter what, and the non fans who will hate it.

My geek cred: I think Watchman is the greatest graphic novel ever written. And I love the Watchman movie. I may get thrown out of the geek club for saying so, but the movie perfectly captured the spirit of the comic while cleaning up and improving the plot.

It's ok if your idea of fun is a blue phallus bouncing around for two and 1/2 hours.

The film that is Watchmen was an all around summary of the graphic novel. Though many of its storylines were condensed on film, it did not stop the brought-to-life version of each character to be successfully translated. The movie was definitely made for the fans. It was awesome. :)

I loved this movie, I think that it is in the top 5 comic book based movies of all time.

To sum it up in one word "POWERFUL", this is one of the better movies of the comic book industry. For that matter, one of the better comic book's of all time and for DC comics to tell it really means a lot. They've done a great job in telling the human nature side of comics and I strongly recommend any one to go see this movie with an open mind.

Watchmen is a movie that not only makes you think about our world, but theirs as well. It's true to the graphic novel, which is a rarity, and the cinematography is outstanding. They did a great casting job, the effects are brilliant, and I left the theatre moved.

Personally I thought it was great, but I am able to seperate movies from source materials (ie X-Men, Iron Man, Ect). It was a great ride worth the price of admission!
