arrow Record producer: Rihanna and Chris Brown sing duet

Rihanna-and-Chris-Brown-001.jpg

UPDATE: People magazine and other outlets reported March 13 that there was no duet recorded last month. Unfortunately, this won't be the last twist in the Rihanna/Chris Brown story.

----------------------------------------------------------

Incredible. Chris Brown has recorded a song with Rihanna -- the woman he allegedly beat up Feb. 21 -- just days after he was charged with assaulting her.

CNN.com says that's confirmed by record producer Polow Da Don, who worked with them on the recording. It's a sad and alarming turn in this story. Yes, there are those who say we don't know all the facts of this case. But we do know what the police report says happened that night. And we've seen the photo taken of Rihanna's face after the incident.

Rihanna's turmoil is playing out in public, but there are so many other women who are victims of domestic violence every day. Adding to the disturbing nature of this saga are the young fans of both performers. They must be wondering what the heck to make of all this. Or, worse, they're getting mixed signals of what's allowed and what should never happen.

For anybody with even the slightest doubt, this is the rule: A man should never hit a woman. Ever. Period.

Oprah Winfrey, who devoted an entire segment of her show this week to "dating violence," put it best: "If a man hits you once, he will hit you again."

years ago,
very early seventies...
there was this guy, he was a minister and a stand-up commedian rolled into one (Mike Warnke)
He wrote this book that was supposed to be the 'definitive book on Satanism, Drug Dealing' (etc.) from 'one who was there.
-It didn't matter that the timeline of the guys life was impossible, nobody checked up his facts,--and he wound up making bank (BIG TIME) talking about that, 'Nam, politics, Drugs, Domestic issues, social commentary.
He did a bunch comedy albums, tours, shows...
-Then he had a bunch of (ahem) marital concerns.
-Then some halfway credible researchers/reporters completely exposed that his entire story was a fraud.
-Then he had more marital concerns, (and more wives.)
(whole time?
He was still a preacher, still 'an authority' and still making bank.)
So after a bunch of marriages and divorces, and various serious financial issues?
(whole time still preaching, still making bank,
COMPLETELY EXPOSED as a total fraud?

--He (then) goes out (with an ex-wife) and continues to tour on a ministry that focuses on (guess what) marriage/divorce reconciliation (and) financial issues.
-Still making bank...
(three decades I think he's still active.)

In a way? It just doesn't matter.
Credibility when somebody is a 'desired star,' means nothing.

Welcome to the new Whitney/Bobby Brown. (or fill in your own examples.)

Everything these people do, good or bad, is entertainment.
He can beat her.
They will make up.
They make pretty songs about it.
They'll hit the circuit and 'help others.'
Eventually they break up (or he cripples/kills her.)
And the survivors will write songs/books/do interviews.

The cycle will continue.
And they'll
still
make

bank...

I'm thinking it's absoultely right towel today. The bigger the star the better your chances in the public eye.

Nobody sent Nick Lachey to the gallows even though he beat Jessica Simpson either.

Nick beat Jessica? I just did a google and didn't find anything about that...Jessica says she was in Africa on their third anniversary and realized there that it wasn't working.

Nothing about a beating.

Meanwhile, Beat-Down Towel absolutely 'hit' it on the 'mark.'

@Chris: Jessica Simpson has never said that Nick Lachey beat her. She's written a song called "Remember That" about her own experiences of violence in a home but has never given details, only hinting it happened with a former lover. I would not jump to the conclusion that it was her former husband.

my apologies, I had been misinformed. It's not like I'm really keeping up with the Prada groupies anyway.

My point is, it happens all the time, and now all of the sudden, Oprah is outraged.

It's pretty sad that it took Chris Brown and Rhianna to shed some light on something that has been around forever.
