Who's your favorite Fresno celebrity? It's me, right?
Just got alerted to my presence in today's Web poll at 1059jack.com. They're asking "Who's your favorite Fresno-born celebrity?" I got a "who?" next to my name, but it's all good. I'm honored to be mentioned alongside the great Kevin Federline and, to a lesser extent, Kip from "Napoleon Dynamite."
Disclosure: I'm sorry to say I was born in Hayward, Calif. But you can still head over the site and vote for me (it's in the bottom right corner of the page). If you want to vote for K-Fed, I understand. We all know he's the true winner.

You're the only celebrity on the list...

Good job, Jack FM. You put a guy who wasn't even born here on the list, but you can't find any female Fresnans worthy of mention?
Radio sucks. I'm voting for Mike Oz because -- well, because of Beehive loyalty, but also to totally invalidate this sham poll!

Before you said Ruell was in ND, I had no idea who he was. Celebrity my ass.
Posted by: Michael at February 17, 2009 5:59 PM
yay Mike Oz!
Posted by: missy t at February 17, 2009 6:02 PM
well, I did vote for ya Oz... but even a good ol' Okie like myself knows that there are more celebrities than that flowing out of here.
It's a bummer that 'Ali Baba and The Forty Thieves' actor Jon Hall isn't on that list. (Especially since there would be a vacant spot in that poll if they had known you weren't Fresno born....
and Heather, surely there are some famous girls out there.

So far Mike is leading 92% to Andy Finch's 7% - no votes for any of the others. C'mon Hivers, get thee to Jack and vote!

Very wise of Jack's Internet box maintainer guy to include the Blogfather in the poll, virtually guaranteeing big website visitation. Oz all the way.
But what about Fresno Famous, Joshua "Famous Whitewater/JT Rocket" Tehee?
Posted by: The Fresnan at February 17, 2009 7:00 PM
wow. you would think that they would make sure that all their celebs were born in fresno. wait, this is a radio station. no you wouldn't.
Posted by: ed at February 17, 2009 7:12 PM
never heard of aaron ruell. who is that? casey olsen should have replaced him on the list.
Posted by: mdub420 at February 17, 2009 7:38 PM
Where's Flex Wheeler?
Posted by: PartyMarty at February 18, 2009 3:06 AM
Andy Finch is a super cool guy actually but I'm going to have to side with Amber Fry for my vote, oh crap she's not on here...
To the "Wizard" the spoils go!
Posted by: Mr. Incognito at February 18, 2009 8:24 AM
I* should be on that list.
Of course I voted for Oz.....he's the best thing thats happend to Fresno in a long long time!
*i think way too much of myself!

Sam Peckinpah isn't on this list?! C'mon.....SAM FRIGGAN PECKINPAH!!
Posted by: brodiemash at February 18, 2009 8:47 AM
forget amber fry. i'm tired of golddiggers getting all the fame and glory.
Posted by: mdub420 at February 18, 2009 9:08 AM
Hahahahahahah. I love it. I almost wish I was at work today to so we could laugh together. TO think, you will now forever be linked to K-Fed in Degrees of Fresno posts.

Wasn't Christopher Gorham a Fresno native?? That's who I vote for. Or does he just live there , now?
Posted by: karen at February 18, 2009 9:56 AM
Mike...yes you are famous in all of OUR eyes. As for a true female celebrity, me thinks Audra McDonald is fabulous and quite famous and an amazing actor.
Posted by: Cindy Schoonmaker at February 18, 2009 10:15 AM
You are ahead right now with 83% of the popular vote!
Posted by: Ghost of Al Radka at February 18, 2009 10:46 AM
Gotsta support the blogger!!!
Posted by: Renee N at February 18, 2009 11:40 AM
@Cindy: I was thinking Audra, too, but it turns out, like Cher, she was not actually born here in Fresno.
Posted by: Heather at February 18, 2009 12:09 PM
Well Mike, you've still got a HUGE lead (at 81%). If I'm not mistaken, wasn't Dave Seville (the Chipmunks) from Fresno? Or is this just a survey of living celebrities?
Posted by: Tweed at February 18, 2009 2:51 PM
Can I vote for Tom Seaver? (Especially now that I've seen the footage of the final piece of Shea Stadium coming down?)
And yes, Tweed, David Seville (Ross Bagdasarian) was born here. Before he discovered the joys of slowed-down vocal tracks sped up to sound like helium, he co-wrote a little blockbuster of a hit single called "Come On-A My House" with his cousin, Bill Saroyan ...

I voted for you! I think K Fed is a joke and should get his Fresno/Clovis residency revoked. I didn't know who the second guy was, and even though I went to high school with Andy Finch and had a class with him I don't consider him a celebrity.
Oh... and yes Ross Bagdasarian was from here. My Great Grandmother actually used to date him WWAAAAYYY back in the day and she still has letters and postcards from him. They never married and that's a good thing because then she wouldn't have met my Great Grandfather and he was an amazing man.
