"Twilight" actors ready to get to work on sequel
Attention "Twilight" fans. Production of the film sequel "New Moon" is scheduled to start in March. That's the word from Edi Gathegi, who plays Laurent, and Elizabeth Reaser, who portrays Esme Cullen. Both will reprise their roles for the vampire film sequel.
Gathegi talks about "New Moon" during an interview for his latest feature film 'My Bloody Valentine 3-D." It opens Friday. Reaser can be seen on the new TNT series "Trust Me" set to launch later this month.
The most recent news is "New Moon" will be directed by Chris Weitz. Both Gathegi and Reaser praised "Twilight" director Catherine Hardwicke who is being replaced by Weitz. But they are both ready to see the vision Weitz will bring to the role.
"I loved what he did with 'The Golden Compass' so I know he can handle the CGI thing very, very well. I like his work. So I am excited about working with him," Gathegi says.
Reaser compares the change of directors to what has been going on with the "Harry Potter' series. As much as she liked working with Hardwicke, she says sometimes it is good to get to see a different director's perspective.
As for getting ready for the shoot, both remind me they have already played the roles. So it will be just a matter of showing up, knowing their lines and not bumping into the furniture.
Gathegi also clears up one rumor about fellow actor Taylor Lautner, who plays Jacob Black. There has been Internet chatter he would be replaced because he could not handle the increased demands of "New Moon." Gathegi says he has always been signed to be in additional 'Twilight" movies.
Both are dealing with increased fan attention. Gathegi is getting a little more because, as Reaser explains, she played the mom in "Twilight." The fans have been more interested in the younger actors.
The release of "New Moon" will create more attention for the entire cast if the movie does as well as 'Twilight."

In our line of work we get to meet many stars, eh, Rick?
And I can tell you Elizabeth Reaser is one of the verybest looking stars in person EVER.

I'm just glad they got the sequel on track after all the drama of recent months.

If Vanessa Hutchins is in the movie.... eeeeh not so much... but maybe the movie will actually do justice to the already sure footing the first one established.

Kathy, I think there's going to be plenty more drama in the upcoming months. I've read three "Twilight" related stories just this morning:
1. Vanessa Hudgens apparently did not audition for the part of Leah Clearwater (or maybe she did and she sucked so bad her publicist is simply calling it a rumor).
2. Robert Pattinson got in trouble for cutting his hair
3. And little Jacob Black now has an eight-pack, so he can stay in the movie.
