The 139-year-old baseball card makes the front page of Yahoo!
UPDATE: This story has EXPLODED this afternoon. Word is that Katie Couric will be talking about it on the CBS Evening News tonight, so set your DVRs. Producers for various TV talk shows are trying to land Gallego for an appearance. And the story has been read nearly 300,000 times today on fresnobee.com.
ORIGINAL POST: A week after the story of Bernice Gallego and her 139-year-old baseball card published in The Bee, the quirky tale is making its way around the Internets. Today's stop: The front page of Yahoo!
She's totally putting Fresno on the map! I am getting bombarded with e-mails this morning from around the country, everything from good ol' props to people wondering what their old baseball collectibles are worth.
The story has also made it to Yahoo's Big League Stew blog (shout out to 'Duk!), Deadspin, The Beckett Blog, Cardboard Icons (the first to pick up on the story, so shout out to them) and many more blogs.

If the bulldogs would have never won the world series, Extreme Makeover wouldn't have came to Fresno. So we have to thank the Dogs for putting Fresno on the map.
I'm just playing, haha. I like how the mention of the Bulldogs gets this board crazy.

i was just thinking about how funny it was that the music guy, the guy listed as music + more on the beehive, the guy that writes the 7 section almost all by himself (okay, that's not totally true), the blogfather scooped the bee's sports department (and suckbuzz...errr...sportsbuzz) on this story. truly you are a king among princes. and a damn fine journalist.
