Concert Megapost: Pennywise, Eddie Money, Avett Brothers and more
Who's coming to town? What shows should be on your radar? The answers are right here in the Concert Megapost.
PUNK NEWS: PENNYWISE & YOUTH BRIGADE
Here are two new punk shows of note from the folks at Numbskull shows. First the big one -- a Feb. 21 date with Pennywise at Crest Theatre. Tickets cost $21 and on sale via Vallitix on Friday.
Numbskull is also bringing influential '80s SoCal punk Youth Brigade to Fresno for a Club Fred show on Jan. 30. In addition to a live performance, there will be a showing of "Another State of Mind," the 1982 documentary documenting the touring lives of Youth Brigade and Social Distortion.
THE BARREL ROOM: EDDIE MONEY & THE YOUNG DUBLINERS
The Barrel Room, ya know the former Cabo Wabo, has some non-Sammy Hagar classic rock on the way. Eddie Money is doing back-to-back nights over there Jan. 30-31. Tickets cost $35. Yo, Ed, take us home ...
Meanwhile, for a little bit of pre-St. Patty's Day partying, The Barrel Room has landed a date with Irish rock band The Young Dubliners. It's on March 16, aka St. Patty's Eve. I don't got a price on that one yet.
SWEET & TENDER HOOLIGANS
Fans of Morrissey and The Smiths will be happy to know that Sweet & Tender Hooligans are coming back to the Fresno for a Club Fred show on Jan. 24. The Hooligans have the distinction of being the only tribute act approved by Moz himself. The band recently sold out dates at House of Blues in San Diego, Anaheim and L.A.
BRET'S BACK
Bret Michaels is bring his sleazefest on wheels (a.k.a. The Rock of Love tour bus) back to the area -- this time for a June 19 date at Tachi Palace. As you might remember, Michaels played at The Big Fresno Fair in '08. Maybe H-Mac will get to introduce him this time.
Also coming up at Tachi Palace:
Jan. 14-15: Aaron Lewis
Feb. 19: The Commodores
Feb. 26: Cheech & Chong
March 7: The Temptations/The Four Tops
May 15: Gretchen Wilson
May 24: Staind/Hoobastank
TABLE MOUNTAIN: YES, LEWIS BLACK AND MORE
The folks at Table Mountain Casino have a lot to look forward to so far in 2009 as well.
Jan. 19: Terry Fator
Feb. 10: Jewel
Feb. 24: Little Big Town
March 3: Yes
May 19: Lewis Black
June 16: Big & Rich

MORE SOUND & VISION IN VISALIA
A couple of fliers landed in my inbox from the Sound & Vision crew outta Visalia -- one for their two weekend benefit at The Cellar Door and one for a Feb. 17 date with Lonely Dear. More upcoming S & V at their MySpace.
FOXY STUFF IN HANFORD
Two cool shows for the alt-country crowd coming up at the Hanford Fox. Robert Earl Keen is performing March 21 at The Fox and The Avett Brothers are there May 12. Really, you guys should care about these shows. Keen is a score for The Fox and The Avetts are awesome and are touring with Dave Matthews this summer.

...YES...
No idea who's in the lineup on this tour, but who freakin' cares it's YES.
-Avett Bro's also tons of more (financially accessable) fun as well...

YES! YES!

...whoah.
Unkay... I know what I said 'bout 'who cares,' -but I figured at least it would be Anderson/Howe...
'YES' -though it has the same drummer, bassist, and guitarist (Steve Howe: arguably the most recognizable guitar player in the history of carbon based life-forms.)
---This past fall DROPPED Jon Anderson (always the Yes frontman-lead vocal (even more recognizable than Howe,)
AND picked up Rick Wakeman's kid (Oliver)
--as both of those (sorta) origional band members were not in good enough health to perform... (the lead vocalist now? a Canadian Tribute Band lead...)
---Rave reviews on their website... but... um,
well, er...
uh...
(awkward moment of silence and shifty eyes.)
