Five Things You Should Do This Weekend
I heard there's also a football game or something going on this weekend. I might need to look into that a little more though.
1. LORD HAVE MERCY: Don't let this avatar-sized flier fool ya, Saturday night at Tokyo Garden should be good music in big amounts, as Poplord headlines. They're joined by Sacred Math, the new project from Andrew "Bad Andy" Bunnell, ex of famed Fresno indie band Pinkeye.
If you don't remember Pinkeye, it was the indie band du jour in Fresno before Rademacher came around. Look it up.
2. BUY THE KID A BEER! On no, wait! It's not that birthday yet. Trey Tosh celebrates his 18th this weekend. Go celebrate with one of Fresno's best young musicians. More here.
3. COMEDY & A GOOD CAUSE:: Quick, name the Beehive commenter on this flier. It's also a good cause, so I'm not just pickin' on Stephen (or is it Stephan?)
4. YOU'RE KILLING ME: To the best of my knowledge, this is the first time there's been an actual show at Starline Grill. Suicide Lounge is sure to entertain -- even if you had no idea the band was going to be there and were just trying to get a drink on the patio.
5. BE A HERO: Screw what Will says (sorry, Will), go check out Hero's. The new downtown sports bar is having its grand opening this weekend. There's live jazz upstairs tonight and Saturday, plus lots of yummy stuff. Here's a bunch of bunch of Hero's pictures I've been looking for a good opportunity to post.
See that pizza? Yeah, nice, huh? Here's a little flier for this weekend:

It's an evolution at the Starline Grill as an intimate music venue. There's more coming too... check out their EVENTS CALENDAR.

Thanks for the weekend events, once again, Mike. A heads up on April 18 - www.FresnoSolarTour.com. Might be something to add to the list for that weekend.

Well, I know what *I* am doing this weekend. Singing for my supper... er... wait. The music is free at the Starline Grill.
I'm just singing.
For free.
Or to shock and amaze all those people who were just trying to get a drink on the patio.
But it'll be fun! You'll see. (So says Fingers B.)
Maybe I'll wear a pretty dress. I don't know. I only have a couple hours to decide...
Dear me.

Trey Tosh is 18? geez. and plays like a young Jimmy Page.
Triple doses of respect to that young man.
I'm hopin' to make it to Tokyo Sat. night, but a musician even younger than Trey (and related to me by ..progeny?did I just mangle the English language-- again?) is playing at Reedley High in the Fresno County Honor Band (and "All State"[yeah!] in Ontario, CA in April)----can't blame a dad for bragging about his red-headed French Horn player. But since Tokyo is a 'night' club...we HOPE to make it.
And Heros and Suicide Lounge---all good things.
---'during his studies, his metaphoric tongue and the irridecent pull of destiny...'[I can't get enough of that]
A weekend of choices---all of them good.

Yep, they spelled my name wrong on the flyer, but WOW! I'm actually featured in a 'what to do' post?!?!!!!
WOW!
Now I guess I'll HAVE to be funny. If for nothing else to help raise money for that little girl with Spinal Muscular Atrophy.
But then it's off to Starline Grill for yes, the first ever music performance there. If you folks haven't been there in 2 months or so, the decor has changed entirely, and Steve Lipari has pulled the corner booths and put up lights and a lovely carpet to create a space for the Suicide Lounge opener and Abigail Nolte's Monday night acoustic stuff.
Food is still the same, tho, as are the strong drinks. I look forward to seeing the first-ever show there, and here's a trivia question: What was the first show ever at the Starline Club, 10 years ago?

I went to Hero's about three weeks ago and the place looks great. Only problem I had with the place, the prices are outrageous. I don't see myself going back unless they have a happy hour or half price on appetizers. Charging $9.99 for cheese fries is a crime. If you need me, I'll be at the Pizza Pit.
