The long wait is about to come to an end
Here's the second biggest news story of the week connected to American voting. The eighth season of "American Idol" is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. Jan. 13. Get your fingers ready to punch in votes for the next batch of singing hopefuls.
The return of "American Idol" is one of several changes on the Fox Network at the beginning of 2009. Here's what else is on tap in January and February:
The next day of "24" begins with a two-night, four-hour season premiere at 8 p.m. Jan. 11 and 12. "House" moves to Monday nights at 8 p.m. starting Jan. 19.
In a move that makes no sense, Fox will air more episodes of the numbing "Hole in the Wall" at 7 and 7:30 p.m. starting Jan. 18. Please. Kill this show.
"Lie To Me," a new drama starring Tim Roth launches at 9 p.m. Jan. 21. Roth plays Dr. Cal Lightman, the world's leading expert on knowing when people are lying.
"Bones" moves to 8 p.m. Thursdays starting Jan. 15. "Hell's Kitchen," starring Chef Gordon Ramsay, returns for a new season at 9 p.m. Jan. 29.
Fox is finally getting around to putting the much anticipated "Dollhouse" on the air. The series from Joss Whedon, the man behind "Buffy, the Vampire Slayer," features Eliza Dushku as a woman who can can take on any personality. The series launches at 9 p.m. Feb. 13. "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" moves to its new time slot of 8 p.m. Fridays that night.
This is not great news for "Dollhouse" and "Terminator." Fridays have not been kind to Fox TV shows. "Sliders," "Milennium," "The X-Files," "The Adventures of Brisco County," "John Doe" and "Firefly" have all died on that night.
