arrow Fres-Know: Twenty blogs in Twenty minutes (give or take a few)

It's all the local news and stuff from the blogosphere that you need to Fres-Know:

AMATEUR HOUR: I really like the idea of Late Update's "Twenty Bars, Twenty Weeks" feature, where they take a look at a different bar every week, but come on, kids. I can knock out those kind of numbers in a single week. [Late Update]

F THIS: Always wanted to try The Basque Hotel on F street in downtown Fresno? Consider reading this tale of cold, bloody meat, dirty utensils, and a physically violent wait staff first. And then go anyway -- it'll make for a great story later. [Fresno Famous]

BROUGHT TO YOU BY THE LETTER 'P': Jim Boren and Bill McEwen, (the Bee's Siskel and Ebert, Colbert and Stewart, and Bert and Ernie all rolled into one), talk with Mayor Elect Ashley Swearengin about her transition team on this week's podcast. [Bee Podcast]

MET WRAP-UP: Felicia Matlosz has the final word on the success of the Met's 55-hour reopening party, including the museum's take on what went down with the Metropolis dance party (spoiler: not much). [Fresno Bee]

SECOND SWEDE: Miss Fresno's first Swede Festival? You're in luck: Swede Fest the Second is Saturday, and you have until Friday to submit your own Swede, if you feel so inclined. [The Dumb Drum]

CORAZON MEANS HEART, YOU KNOW: A benefit for the owners of the now-closed Café Corazón will take place Sunday at Audie's Olympic/Club Fred. Local musicians and poets will perform, and it's as good a reason as any to get drunk on a Sunday afternoon. [Fresno Famous]

SIGN OF SUCCESS? Apparently Ultralounge 2039 on Kern Street has a new, neon sign. Has anyone been there since it opened? Anyone? [Fresno Fusion]

I WANT PEOPLE TO BE AFRAID OF HOW MUCH THEY LOVE ME:
Vote for CBS47's Michael Mike Scott in the Bee's People's Choice Awards before the man gives himself a hernia. [CBS47]

SHAMELESS PLUG: Don't forget to keep Friday, December 5, open for the Beehive's Birthday Party. Will Albritton has already volunteered himself for the Pin the Tail on the Blogger game, so you won't want to miss that. [Beehive]

Comments:

if we cant get the pin-the-tail deal set up, i can always volunteer for the kissing topless-blogger booth for a buck.

Oh awesome. I was going to volunteer for that if nobody else did, so you've really saved me some trouble. Thanks, Will!

I was playing off the "Twenty Bars, Twenty Weeks (give or take a few)" thing from Late Update. I thought everyone would recognize that immediately.

Come on, Ed -- you're better than that. ;)

Will I just got the image of you shirtless out of my head when you gotta bring it back up. Thanks man.

As retribution go watch my latest swede. I think watching my part should be punishment enough.

I agree with Michael! His part in his swede is cringe inducing....but funny.

I am officially volunteering my liver to the Twenty Bars in Twenty Weeks feature.
Someone take heed.

Unrelated: You know what sucks? Eating 20,000 calories and then swimming 20 laps. I just ate a Whopper Value Meal and then went for a swim.

I don't recommend it, and from now on I'm sticking to vodka and dancing as exercise.

So you're saying the Michael Phelps Diet™ doesn't work for everyone?

Hold on....did H-Mac just say she was gonna volunteer for the kissing topless blogger booth at the Beehive Party? Hmmmm.... Oh, and Beehive....you guys still have a couple of days to bust out an entry for the Swede Fest. Thinking of movies with bees.....My Girl!

Will: Nice! Now I have another reason to continue holding these things.

Michael: Right with you on the My Girl, man. Home Alone dude getting stung up....damn sad, indeed.

I'm feeling a My Girl Swede...nothing funnier than a kid in the midst of anaphylactic shock...This time the star could die from Anal-Phallic Shocker...

Great post H...thanks for surfing for me.
